October 1st - 4th


1er – 4 octobre 2018

French: This week, we will be learning about common names and names’ gender (masculin et féminin). Dictée on Thursday.

Programme de lecture à la maison: We are continuing the French reading at home program. Reading log are  due every Monday.


Math: We are still working on numbers up to 100.

English/Religion: We will be talking about giving thanks to people around us.


Science: We are starting our unit on Waste and our environment.

Agendas: Students should put a checkmark when something is done. Parents are asked to supervise homework and to put their initials when homework is completed. If your child does not have time to complete his/her homework, please write a little note in the agenda.

Physical Education: On days 1, 4 and 5 from 12:30 to 1:00. Students are asked to change into their gym clothes for Physical Education.

IMPORTANT DATES:
October 3rd at 10:00am: Lockdown practice
October 3rd at 1:00pm: Thanksgiving celebration
October 5th: Professional day – No school
October 8th: Thanksgiving Day – No school

24-28 Septembre 2018

French: This week, we’ll be learning when to use the verb “Avoir” and when to use the verb “Etre”. Pretest on Monday and evaluation on Friday.

Programme de lecture à la maison: We are starting the French reading at home program. Reading log will be due every Monday.


Math: We are still working on numbers up to 100. Keep practicing.

English: We are continuing our poem about ourselves.

Science: We are continuing our recycling and composting program.

Social Studies: We are working on mapping skills! See study sheet. Evaluation Thursday.

Religion: We will be going to St. Luke’s church for our opening mass. I need 2 volunteers to walk back and forth with us. Please let me know if you are available.

Physical Education: Will be on days 1, 4 and 5 from 12:30 to 1:00. Students are asked to change into their theirs gym clothes for Physical Education. Clothes should be placed in a reusable bag with the child's name on it.

Scholastic book orders: If you are ordering from Scholastic book club, please make a cheque to Scholastic. You can also pay online with credit or debit. It takes about 1 week to 2 weeks to receive the books once I've placed the order. If you wish to purchase some Scholastic items without your child knowing, please send me an email and I will let you know when the order has arrived.

French: This week we’re learning about the verb “Etre” and the expressions to use with “Etre”. Dictée on Thursday.

Math: We are working on analyzing patterns with numbers up to 100.

English: We are working on the “Who are you” unit.

Science: We are continuing our recycling and composting program.

Social Studies: We are working on mapping skills! Evaluation next week.

Religion: We are working on the values of a Calgary Catholic Community of Caring (CCCC)

Bienvenue / Welcome to the Grade 4 blog!

Last week, the students got to know each other through some fun interactive activities in French and English and, hopefully, made some new friends in the process.
This week we will be working on....
-cursive writing booklets
-writing in our personal journal
-le verbe avoir et les expressions avec avoir (Dictée on Friday and spelling counts)
-recycling and composting
-memorizing “Notre Père” (Evaluation on Friday and spelling does not count)
