Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French: Students will be doing some french Christmas activities reviewing what we've done so far.

Math: Students are to complete their addition booklet.

Science: Students are working on an environmental organization project.

Social Studies: Nothing for this week. 

English:  This week, we will proofread and make a good copy of their epilogue for Mieko and the Fifth Treasure. Then by using Christmas story books, we will add to our of lists of homophones, compound words, synonyms and plurals. 


Tuesday is Pyjama and show your musical talent Day. Students are to bring their music books from home if they want to present.


Thanks to everyone who participated in our open house last Thursday. It was a great success.


Volunteers:  Students are not aware of this! Two volunteers are requested to help prepare and serve hot chocolate to our students on our Pyjama Day, next Tuesday from 12:15pm to 1:30pm. If you are available and interested in helping out, please send me a quick email.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  This week students will complete their written assignment on animated class objects. When completed, they will read them aloud on Flipgrid which is on Google Classroom.

Math: We are continuing problem solving with 3 - 4 digit additions. Students will continue to practice their basic addition facts by going on Xtramath 3 times this week.  There will be an evaluation when students are ready.

Science: Students will be inventing an environemental organization.

Social Studies: We will continue to discover how the Earth, the livings things and the humans were created. In addition, we will learn about scientists who are studying the past. We will also learn about paleontology. There will be an evaluation on Friday. A study sheet will be given on Tuesday.

English:  Students will write a short epilogue for Mieko and the Fifth Treasure. Then by using Christmas story books, students will add words to the lists of homophones, compound words, synonyms and plurals.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  This week, we are reviewing the following verbs: AVOIR, ETRE, ER, IR and ALLER. Students had a pre-test Monday to see what they remember from the previous weeks. There will be an evaluation on Friday.  Students are to go on Razkids 3 times this week for a minimum of 20 minutes each time. They received an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow. They have to record their voice with every book they are reading.

Math: This week, we will start problem solving with additions. They will have an Students will continue to practice their basic addition facts by going on Xtramath 3 times this week. 

Science:Students are working on a project about the cycle of an object.

Social Studies: We will continue to discover how the Earth, the livings things and the humans were created. 

English:  Students will finish the rough copy of their friendly letter and then write the good copy. We will also talk about synonyms and identify word patterns which enhance artistry in Christmas stories.

French:  This week, we are learning about the verb  ALLER at the present tense . There will be an evaluation on Friday.  Students are to go on Razkids 3 times this week for a minimum of 20 minutes each time. They received an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow. They have ato record their voice with every book they are reading.

Math: This week, we will continue to estimate additions. They will have an evaluation on Thursday. Students will practice their basic addition facts by going on Xtramath 3 times this week. 

Science:  We are learning the cycle of a product. Students will start a project soon.

Social Studies: We will start to discover how the Earth, the livings things and the humans were created. 

English: Students will continue to work on their Book Reports. They will complete the rough copy for a Friendly letter. Lastly, we will learn about synonyms.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  This week, we are learning about the verbs in IR at the present . There will be an evaluation on Friday.  Students are to go on Razkids 4 times this week for a minimum of 20 minutes each time. They received an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow.

Math: This week, we will start estimation of additions. They will start Xtramath to practice basic addition facts.

Science:  There will be an evaluation on Wednesday..

Social Studies: We are starting to discover how the Earth, the livings things and the humans were created. On Tuesday, students will receive a homework about their ancestors. It will be due on next Monday.

English: Students will complete a Group Book Report and then start individual ones. In addition, we will talk about parts of a friendly letter and work on homophones.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  Students needs to recopy their  written assignment in a Googledoc and share it with me. This week, we are learning about the verbs in ER at the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Friday.  Students are to go on Razkids 4 times this week for a minimum of 20 minutes each time. They received an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow.

Math: This week, we will learn to classify numbers up to 9,999. There will be an evaluation soon.

Science:  Students are learning about biodegrability of different objects we find in the garbage. There will be an evaluation next week.

Social Studies: Students are learning more information about the province of Alberta. 

English: We will be working on listening comprehension using the students’ compositions about their favourite characters in THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW. Then, we will work on the steps to follow when writing a book report. If we have time, we will learn about contractions.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  Students are finishing an informative writing assignment where they describe what a school is. Students are to go on Razkids 3 times this week for a minimum of 20 minutes each time. They received an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow. We will start verbs in "ER" at the present tense. The evaluation will be next week.

Math: This week, we will learn to order and to classify numbers up to 9,999.

Science:  Students are learning about mold and dangerous symbols.

Social Studies: Students are learning more information about the province of Alberta. 

English: Students will finish and present their composition about their favourite character in Magician’s Nephew. They will also finish various group assignments and work on Reader’s Theatre, if time permits.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  Students are continuing an informative writing assignment where they describe what a school is.  We are also starting Razkids, a French reading program to be done at home. Students are to go on Razkids 3 times this week for a minimum of 20 minutes each time. They received an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow.

Math: This week, we are continuing to learn numeration up 9 999 and different ways to write those numbers.

Science:  Students are learning about garbage, landfill and biodegradability. 

Social Studies: Students are learning more information about the province of Alberta. 

English: Students will correct mistakes and write a good copy of their favourite character in the Magician’s Nephew. They will also listen with focus to the reading of THE FIFTH TREASURE by Eleanor Coerr to find new vocabulary and culture specific words. In addition, they will write a long list of compound words, all spelled correctly. 

Religion:  Students will reflect on the difference between the meaning of “the” church and “a” church. Students will demonstrate their understanding by a drawing.They will also decorate and build a church shaped donation box out of cardboard.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  Students will begin an informative writing assignment where they describe what a school is. They will have two weeks for this. We will also start the Razkids French reading program. They will be using it as a homework starting next week. They will receive an info sheet on how to access the program and what steps to follow.

Math: This week, we are starting to learn numeration up 9 999 and different ways to write those numbers.

Science:  Students are presenting their projects on a decomposer. 

Social Studies: Students are learning mapping skills to locate the province of Alberta. There will be an evaluation on Thursday. They received a study sheet today.

English: Students will be writing a short reflection about a favourite character in the Magician’s Nephew. In addition, they will be learning about compound words.

Religion:  Students will be doing a service project. They will write a message of gratitude for Veterans at the Food Bank. On Friday, October 28 there will an evaluation on the names of the 12 disciples, To practice, listen to the Wee Sing choir sing :THERE WERE 12 DISCIPLES on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/z4jXVzAoYpg .Then fill in the blanks on photocopies sent home last week. 

Thursday is Pizza Day and the theme is :Wear only one color!

Sorry about the delay! Organizing St.Luke Feast Day took a lot of time.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French:  This week, students are learning about adjectives. There will be an evaluation on Thursday.

Math: This week, we had an evaluation on using tables to extend patterning. Students will receive their results soon.

Science:  Students are working on a project of a decomposer. The project is due next Monday.

Social Studies: Students are learning mapping skills to locate the province of Alberta.

English: Revisions and Presentations of “I can” stories. Nouns: Words with Irregular Spelling Draw a picture to show comprehension, imagination and appreciation of passages in the Magician’s Nephew, Chapter 13 + 14

Religion:   Religion: Growing in Faith Unit 1 : Called to be One  (continued), Memorise, then write the names of the 12 disciples.  Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French:  This week, students will be continuing to learn about "Les noms communs" and "Les déterminants" and how to find out if they are masculine, feminine or plural. They have to be able to look up words in the dictionnary to find out the gender of a name. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

Math: This week, we are learning to use tables to extend patterning.

Science: Students have received their evaluation. If a student got a NM or a NY,  he/she needs to write the reason  why on the evaluation (did not study, did not understand when Mme Allyson was teaching, did not undersand the questions on the evaluation, etc.) Students are now working on a project of a decomposer.

Social Studies: Students are learning mapping skills to locate the province of Alberta.

English: Revision and Presentations of “I can” stories, Reader’s Theatre: The Magician’s Nephew: Chapters 11, Nouns: Singular + Irregular Plural

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French:  This week, students will be learning about "Les noms communs" and "Les déterminants" and how to find out if they are masculine, feminine or plural.

Math: This week, we are learning about patterning numbers up to 100.

Science: We are continuing our unit on Waste in our World. There is an evaluation on Wednesday on the two first booklets they studied. They also received a study sheet.

Social Studies: Will be starting soon.

English: Revision and presentation of “I can” stories. The Magician’s Nephew: Chapters 10-11. Nouns: Singular + Plural 

Religion: Growing in Faith Unit 1 : Called to be One (continued). Reflections, Songs and Prayers for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Liturgy on Friday at 1:00pm at school. 

Volunteer: We are looking for a volunteer to take a picture of every student from our class in the outdoor classroom and to get the pictures developed in a 4 X 6 format.

Food drive:  We are collectiong non-perishable items for the needy from St.Luke's church such as : Juice, Jam, Kraft Dinner, Cookies, Pancake Mix & Syrup, Soup, Rice, Coffee, Canned tomatoes, School snacks.

French:  This week students are learning when to use the verb "Avoir" and when to use Etre. We had a pre-test on Monday and there will an evaluation on Thursday.

Math: This week we are learning what is a "Pair and Impair" number.

Science: We are continuing our unit on Waste in our World. 

Social Studies: Will be starting soon.

English: Good copy and decoration of I can” story and show understanding of the use of rings in The Magician’s Nephew.

Religion: Growing in Faith Unit 1 : Called to be One: Reflections on Truth, Reconciliation and Humility (Matthew 22:36-40)

Volunteer: We are looking for a volunteer to take a picture of every student from our class in the outdoor classroom and to get the pictures developed in a 4 X 6 format.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students are continuing to write in their school journals in French. They are also continuing to practice cursive writing. This week we are learning to conjugate the verb  "Etre" in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Thursday.

Math: We have started to review numbers up to 100. Students should be practicing to say  numbers in French from 0 to 100, from 100 to 0 and also randomly. In addition, we are learning how to say our birthday in French properly.

Science: We are continuing our unit on Waste in our World. 

Social Studies: Will be starting soon.

English: We are studying the novel: The Magician's Nephew.

Religion: Students will continue an introduction to the Religion class. There will also be special prayers on Monday in honour of our late Queen.

Volunteers: We need 1 more volunteer to walk back and forth to church on Wednesday morning. Please send an email if you are able to volunteer.

Conferences: We have Parent-Teacher Conference this coming Thursday evening and Friday all day. If you haven't book a time for a conference, please do so ASAP.

Welcome to our Grade 4 blog. The blog will be posted every Monday afternoon.

French, Math, Social Studies and Arts are taught by Mme Elaine.

Religion, English, Music and Wellness are taught my Mme Suzanne.

Science is taught by Mme Allyson.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students have already started to write in their school journals in French. They are also practicing cursive writing. This week we are learning to conjugate the verb  AVOIR in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

Students' agenda: Parents are asked to check their child's agenda every night from Monday to Thursday and to put an checkmark ✔ if the homework has been completed. If your child is unable to complete something one night, please write a note in the agenda as agendas are being checked every morning. Parents are also asked to put their initiales when everything is completed.

Math: We are starting our unit on fractions. Students that have not reached the division level on Xtramath must continue until they complete that level.

English: Completion and revision of May/June Writing Project 

 

Reading Comprehension 

  • Read the entire text slowly twice. 
  • Read the questions slowly. 
  • Find clues in the words in the question that point to the correct answer. 
  • Write the answer in a complete sentence. 
  • Review your answer to catch missing words and spelling mistakes. 

Science: We will start our unit on Plants.
Social Studies: We are working on an agriculture
 project. It's due on Friday.

Religion:  Unit 5: Building the Kingdom of God.

  Research and present an assigned topic from the Religion textbook.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French:  We are studying  all the verbs at the future simple tense. There is no evaluation but students have to write 10 sentences in the futur tense about a  career of their choice.  Razkids 4 times this week.  Students should take the quizzes only twice and then choose an other book.

Math: We are finishing our unit on mesuring time.  Final evaluation will on Thursday.  Students that have not reached the division level on Xtramath must continue until they complete that level.

English: Writing projects and focusing on using a variety of adjectives, verbs and adverbs. We are also learning about prefixes and suffixes.

Science: We are building complexes machines using a variety of simples machines. Science project due on Thursday.

Social Studies: We are working on an agriculture
 project.

Religion:  Unit 5: Building the Kingdom of God

Research and present an assigned topic from the Religion textbook.

Swimming: Wednesday and Friday
