 Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French: Students will complete the writing assignment where they describe what a school is.  In addition, we will be learning about adjectives. A reminder that students’ reading programs are due on Monday. If they forgot their yellow tracking sheet at school, students can always use a lined piece of paper and have a parent sign off on their reading minutes.

Math
Students have a good understanding of the various ways of representing whole numbers. We will now work on comparing numbers up to 10,000.  

English: We will continue working on how apostrophes are used through Halloween activities. 

Science: We have almost completed the second unit on Waste in our World. Students should be reviewing their notes as there will be a unit test in a couple of weeks.

Social Studies: We  are working on the Creation unit. 

Religion: Our theme is: "How do prayers and rituals unite us with God and one another? 

Wednesday October 28th:   Black and orange Day

 Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French:Students will start a writing assignment where they describe what a school is. 
A reminder that students’ reading programs are due every Monday. If they forgot their yellow tracking sheet at school, students can always use a lined piece of paper and have a parent sign off on their reading minutes.

Math
We are starting a new unit: “Whole Numbers”.  We will explore numbers up to 10,000. How do you say them in French? How do you write them? What is their value? How can you represent these numbers using base ten blocks? 

English 
We are focusing on fragments, run-on sentences and Capitalization rules. Students will have a quiz on this next Thursday, Oct. 22nd They can bring their English duotang home in order to study. I have also asked students to practice spelling the following words: a lot, about , across, also, because, believe, every, famous, often, people, really, said, student, tried, try, wanted and would.   

Science: We are continuing with the second half of our unit on Waste in our World.

Social Studies: We 
will start discussing the different theories of the creation of the Earth.

Religion: We’ve been talking about the value of our beautiful Bible. Students will learn how to find significant passages in the Bible.

 GRADE 4

Here is what we are covering in class this week:

French: Students will learn about ‘le nom commun’. This includes searching words up in the dictionary, putting words in alphabetical order, and writing the plural form of words. There will be an evaluation on FridayA reminder that students’ reading programs are due on Monday. If they forgot their yellow tracking sheet at school, students can always use a lined piece of paper and have a parent sign off on their reading minutes.

Math
We are starting a new unit: “Whole Numbers”.  We will explore numbers up to 10,000. How do you say them in French? How do you write them? What is their value ? How can you represent these numbers using base ten blocks? Etc.

English: We are having fun writing our own endings to a variety of stories like Mr. Stink by David Walliams. We will also strengthen our writing by discussing what fragmented and run-on sentences mean. I have also asked students to practice spelling the following words: a lot, about , across, also, because, believe, every, famous, often, people, really, said, student, tried, try , wanted and would.   

Science: We are starting the second half of our unit on Waste in our World.

Social Studies: We will start to discuss the different theories of the creation of the Earth.

October 4th 2020

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students will learn about ‘le nom commun’. There will be no evaluation in French this week. In addition, I will be presenting the new reading program, the Raz Kids online reading resource, and book reports. Don't forget to sign and return last week evaluation.

Math
We are continuing to work on extending number patterns and patterns found in charts. They will have a quiz next Friday, October 9th.  We will practice for the test. 

EnglishStudent are practicing their writing skills as they answer all kinds of fun questions and share their thoughts on stories.  We have talked a lot about  contractions and capitalization.

Science: Students will have an evaluation on Thursday. They will receive a study guide on Monday. They are also working on a project about a common decomposer, which will be due on Friday.

Social Studies: We  will complete important information about Alberta  and will start discussing the different theories of the creation of the Earth. Don't forget to sign and return last week evaluation.

ReligionWe are talking about what it means to have Faith. Please share your experiences about how your faith in the Lord has helped you overcome difficult situations.  

Reminder: Students'duo-tangs are to stay in the poly envelope at all times and be returned to school every day. Thanks!
