Feb. 5- 9

French: This week students will learn how to conjugate the verb ALLER in the ‘passé composé'. There will be an evaluation on Thursday.


Reading at home Program: Students will now record their reading in both languages and hand in their new log every Monday. The goal is to read in French first, record it and then reading the same amount in English and record it.

Math
: We will be continuing our unit on multiplication. Students should know their basic multiplication facts for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10.

English: We will be learning about contractions.

Science: We will continue our unit on lights and shadows.

Religion: We will be talking about Carnaval and Mardi Gras.

Jan. 29- Feb 2

French: This week students will learn how to conjugate the verbs AVOIR and ÊTRE in the ‘passé composé'. There will be an evaluation on Friday.

In addition, students are required to read out loud in French for 20 minutes a day, four times a week for the at home reading program. Reading logs from last week are due next MONDAY (February 5th)!

Math
: We will be continuing our unit on multiplication. Students should know their basic multiplication facts for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10.

English: Students will be presenting their music research projects starting on Monday.

Science: We will start a new unit on lights and shadows.

Jan. 22- 25

French: This week students will learn how to conjugate other verbs that use AVOIR in the ‘passé composé'.

In addition, students are required to read out loud in French for 20 minutes a day, four times a week for the at home reading program. Reading logs from last week are due this MONDAY (January 22nd)!

Math
: We will be continuing our unit on multiplication. Students should know their basic multiplication facts up to 3 x 9.

English: Students will complete their music project where they research either a musical instrument, a composer or a Canadian singer/ band. Presentations will start sometime towards the end of the week.

Social Studies: We will finish learning about the geography of the Rocky Mountains. Students should be reviewing their notes as there is an evaluation on Thursday.

Religion: Students will write their prayer for the morning announcements.

Jan. 8- 12

Thank you very much for all of the lovely Christmas presents. They were truly appreciated.

French: This week students will learn how to conjugate the ‘passé composé’ with verbs ending in ER. There will be an evaluation on Friday. Students have to read in French 4 times weekly. Log is due on Monday.

Math
: We will comparing addition and subtraction. There will be an evaluation sometime during the week.

English: Students will start a music project where they research either a musical instrument, a composer or a Canadian singer/ band.


Social Studies: We are learning about the geography of the Rocky Mountains.

Religion: Students are learning about Epiphany. In addition, Sister Madeleine will be coming to visit the grade 4's on Wednesday.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Winter is coming back on Wednesday so please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately.

Dec. 11- 15

French: We will be working on various Christmas activities.


In addition,  students are required to read out loud in French for 20 minutes a day, four times a week for the at home reading program. Reading logs from last week are due this MONDAY (December 11th)!

Math
: We will be continuing subtraction. Students should know their basic subtraction facts up to 18-9. They should also practice subtraction of three digit numbers (with borrowing).

English: Students will continue to write their Christmas stories.

Social Studies: We are finishing our unit about the origins of Alberta. Students should be reviewing their notes in their red duo-tang as there will be an evaluation on Thursday. They will get a study sheet on Monday.

Nov. 27- 30

French: This week we will be learning about irregular verbs in the present tense. In addition, students will write a pre-test on Monday on all the verbs learned so far in the present tense (AVOIR, ÊTRE, AIMER, FINIR and ALLER). There will also be an evaluation on Thursday on these same verbs.

In addition,  students are required to read out loud in French for 20 minutes a day, four times a week for the at home reading program. Reading logs from last week are due this MONDAY (November 27th)!

Math
: We will be starting subtraction. Students should know their simple subtraction facts up to 18-9.

Religion: Students should finish their saint project at home by Wednesday.

English: We will complete our unit on types of sentences. Presentations of the saints project will begin this week.

Social Studies: We are continuing to learn about the origins of Alberta.

French: This week we will be learning how to conjugate verbs ending in IR in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Thursday.

In addition,  students are required to read out loud in French for 20 minutes a day, four times a week for the at home reading program. Reading logs from last week are due this MONDAY (November 13th)!

Math
: We will be continuing with addition. Students should know their simple addition facts up to 9 + 9.

Religion: Students have started a project on saints. They will be researching more information about a saint of their choice.

English: We will continue with our grammar unit. This week we will learn about different types of sentences, including simple, compound and complex sentences. We will also look at fragments and run-on sentences. Students will continue reading some short texts and complete comprehension questions.

Science: Students will be working on an environment project where the objective is to find ways to reduce the waste in our school.
