 GRADE 4

Sorry for the delay!

Here is what we are covering in class this week:

French: Students will learn about ‘le nom commun’. This includes searching words up in the dictionary, putting words in alphabetical order, and writing the plural form of words. There will be an evaluation on FridayA reminder that students’ reading programs are due on Monday. If they forgot their yellow tracking sheet at school, students can always use a lined piece of paper and have a parent sign off on their reading minutes.

Math
We are starting a new unit: “Whole Numbers”.  We will explore numbers up to 10,000. How do you say them in French? How do you write them? What is their value ? How can you represent these numbers using base ten blocks? Etc.

English: We are having fun writing our own endings to a variety of stories like Mr. Stink by David Walliams. We will also strengthen our writing by discussing what fragmented and run-on sentences mean. I have also asked students to practice spelling the following words: a lot, about , across, also, because, believe, every, famous, often, people, really, said, student, tried, try , wanted and would.

Science: We are starting the second half of our unit on Waste in our World.

Social Studies: We will start to discuss the different theories of the creation of the Earth.

Religion:  We’ve been talking about the value of our beautiful Bible. Students will learn how to find significant passages in the Bible.
