I forgot to add this to my previous post!

SOCIAL JUSTICE CAMPAIGN: On behalf of Student council we are launching a very short but worthwhile campaign to give to the less fortunate. If you can purchase a pair of good woolen socks and maybe some items to fill them. These little gifts of kindness will go to the Drop in Center to help make someone else's Christmas just a little brighter. Participation is optional. Here is a list of items that you can put inside:

Tylenol/Advil
Throat Lozenges
Lysol Wipes
$5 Tim Horton’s/Macdonalds gift cards

Toothbrushes

Toothpaste

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:

French: Students will be completing their written assignment where they pretend that the objects in the classroom have come alive. They will start writing Christmas stories with partners. A reminder that students’ reading programs are due on Monday.

Math: We are starting our subtraction unit. Today, in order to practice basic addition and subtraction facts students were registered on the following website: xtramath.org.  Each student has his/her username and password. They should practice every night. There's a time limit controlled by the program.

English: We are working on homonyms. Evaluation next Monday.


Science: We are starting a project where students think about how to celebrate Christmas in a more environmentally friendly way.

Social Studies: We are continuing to present our Alberta animal projects.

Religion: We are focusing on the Advent theme. We will also be making some Christmas cards for the residents of The Carroll Place which is near St. Luke’s Church.  We want to brighten up their lives. 

Online Learning: On Thursday, parents will receive an email with a schedule and students expectations for the first week after the Christmas Holidays. On Thursday, December 17th students will bring home everything they need for the work that will be done the first week of January. Students are not to start anything during the holiday as we will be giving instructions everyday of the online learning at home.

Santa's hat: Starting next week, students can wear their Santa's hat at school and in the class. Please do not send any treats to share with other students.

Musical Talents: On December 15th, students who play an instrument, will be able to demonstrate their musical talents. We will have a piano available for the students who play the piano.

Message from Mme Amanda, our librarian: Thank you everyone for supporting our virtual book fair!  We sold a total of 231 books.  The funds raised from this book fair will be used to continue to grow our French collection as well as bring in some diversity and indigenous titles.  Thank you again for your support in these challenging times.

 Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students will be working on a written assignment where they pretend that the objects in the classroom have come alive.  A reminder that students’ reading programs is due on Mondays.

Math: We will continue with our unit on addition. We are now solving problems with additions. Evaluation coming soon.

English: We will start a unit on Christmas poems.

Science: Students will begin presentations of part 2.

Social Studies: We will start presenting the wild animals of Alberta projects on Monday.

Religion: Students will be learning about Advent.

 Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students will review the verbs AVOIR, ÊTRE, AIMER, FINIR and ALLER in the present tense. They had a pre-test today and there will be an evaluation on Friday.   A reminder that students’ reading programs are due on every Monday.

English: Saint Project presentations

Science: Students will continue to work on part 2 of their environmental organization project. This will be due on November 30th.

Social Studies: Students will complete their research project with a partner on a wild animal of Alberta. This project is due on Friday December 4.   Homework on animal silhouettes and tracks due this Friday November 27.

Religion: Saint project Presentations

Theme Day: This Thursday November 26th:

 Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students will learn about the verb ALLER in the present tense. A reminder that students’ reading programs are due on Wednesday this week. There will be an evaluation next week on all the verbs we've seen so far next week.

Math: We will start our unit on addition. Students are to practice daily basic addition facts up to    9 + 9.  
Students are encouraged to use strategies other than counting on their fingers.

English: Students will present their saint projects.

Science: Students will finish part 2 of their environmental organization project. In this part of the project, they invent their own environmental organization in groups of up to 4 students. Project is due Wednesday.

Social Studies: Evaluation Thursday on "The Creation". Students have received a study sheet for this evaluation. They will be allowed to use their Social Studies texbook but not their red duo-tang.

Religion: Students will start presentation their Saint Project. Students that are not done, will finish during presentations.

National Child Day on Friday: Please wear blue.

Plastic box: Students who feel their desk is not big enough to hold all their belongings, are allowed to bring a small plastic box (big enough to hold duo-tangs, textbooks and workbooks.

 Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students will learn about verbs ending in IR in the present tense. There will be an evaluation on Friday. A reminder that students’ reading programs are due on Monday. If they forgot their yellow tracking sheet at school, students can always use a lined piece of paper and have a parent sign off on their reading minutes.

Math: We are finishing our unit on Whole numbers, We will have an evalution soon. We will start our unit on addition.

English:  This week we will work hard on our Saints project

Science: There will be an evaluation on Tuesday. Students received a study guide last week. In addition, students will complete their research project on an environmental organization.

Social Studies: Students are finishing our unit on the Creation of the World. Evaluation next week.


Religion: Message from Mme Lora:  This week we will fwork hard on our Saints project.

Here is what we will be covering in class this week:


French: Students will learn about verbs ending in ER in the present tense. There will be an
 evaluation on Friday. In addition, the good copy of their writing project is due on Thursday. A reminder that students reading programs are due on Mondays. If they forgot their yellow tracking sheet at school, students can always use a lined piece of paper and have a parent sign off on their reading minutes.

Math: We are using a variety of strategies to compare and order numbers  up to 10,000.  ( a place-value chart, a number line, symbols <  >  = ). Students will have an evaluation next week.

English: Students will write about a variety of experiences. For example, “How did they celebrate Halloween?”  “What is their pet peeve?” etc.

Science: We will start a new project where students research an environmental organization. Students should also be reviewing their notes in preparation for the evaluation next week.

Social Studies: There will be an evaluation next week about the different theories of the creation of Earth and the scientists who study the past. 

Religion:   How are we united with Christ in the mass?  How do you become a Saint?   Soon, students will get a chance to pick a Saint and present his/her life to the class.

Art: Halloween art project is due ASAP.

Halloween treats: Maximum of two per day at school please.
